Let's face it - relationships can be hard. Trust me, I know.
For the past 20 years, I've been married to someone who has been actively serving in the military. Between multiple deployments, long-distant moves, and extended trainings, I learned very quickly that a solid relationship needs a sturdy foundation. But that doesn't mean it's been easy. I know firsthand what attachment injuries can do to a person and relationship, but I also know how to help repair and heal those injuries. Having this lived experience helps me relate and understand each couple's unique relationship challenges.
As a veteran, I find myself in a unique position. Having served and sacrificed on both sides, I understand the pressures placed on military members as well as the stressors faced by military families.
While my professional passion is couples counseling, it doesn't stop there. One way I keep my clinical skills sharp is to attend as many Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) trainings as I can. I completed my Externship in Pennsylvania with Dr. Ting Liu, all 4 segments of my Core Skills in Idaho with Dr. Teri Murphy, and I'm already gearing up for the ICEEFT World Summit in Vancouver next year. I had the immense privilege of attending the first ever EFT Cruise last year onboard the MS Zaandam in Alaska. Most recently, I volunteered as a small group facilitator at a Core Skills training in Oregon, led by THE Doc Hawk - Dr. James Hawkins. I am deeply committed to being the most effective and ethical couples counselor I can be, which means I intentionally seek opportunities to learn and grow from the best in the field.

When I'm not working with couples, I love spending time in nature. I find so much comfort and peace when I'm surrounded by mountains, trees, or water. After spending the past 3 years in Idaho, I really reconnected with the healing power of nature. Whether weekend hiking locally in the Sawtooth Mountains, or a getaway trip to Wyoming's Grand Teton and Yellowstone parks, it's safe to say that nature helps to refresh my soul.
